Police are investigating how two men who had been out Saturday night ended up with stab wounds that killed one of them Sunday morning.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office identified the victim as Matthew Barndt, 23.

Homicide detectives said the men had been out and returned to Barndt’s home on Arlington Court when Barndt starting talking about suicide to the other man, who is 27.

Shortly after 10:30 a.m., Barndt stabbed the other man in the torso, then began to stab himself, police said.

The 27-year-old went to a neighbor’s house and asked them to call 911, police said. He was found with stab wounds outside the house.

Inside, Barndt was found with stab wounds as well. He was taken to Allegheny General Hospital where he later died, police said.

Anyone with more information concerning the stabbings is asked to call police at 1-833-255-8477 (ALL-TIPS).
