A man was taken to a hospital in critical condition after being shot in the chest Thursday night in Pittsburgh’s Homewood West neighborhood.

City officers responded to a Shotspotter alert for multiple rounds fired along the 6900 block of Formosa Way around 9:05 p.m.

Police found a man in the area with a gunshot wound to the chest.

An officer rendered aid to the victim until medics arrived, police said.

Detectives from the city’s Violent Crime Unit and Mobile Crime Scene Unit processed the scene and are investigating.

No suspect information was available. Anyone with information about the incident should contact Pittsburgh police at 412-323-7800.
