Police: Woman grazed by gunfire after shots fired on border of East Liberty, Garfield
A woman refused to be taken to the hospital after she was grazed by gunfire Sunday evening on the border of Pittsburgh’s East Liberty and Garfield neighborhoods, Pittsburgh public safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz said.
City police were alerted to the gunfire by ShotSpotter and 911 calls shortly before 6 p.m. on Black Street near Fern Street. People in two vehicles had been exchanging gunfire, Cruz said, and one of the vehicles involved was found abandoned on Collins St.
The other vehicle hasn’t been found.
As police were investigating, they responded to a vehicle that crashed into a house at Black Street and North Negley Avenue that was trying to avoid the gunfire, Cruz said.
The driver suffered a graze wound to her shoulder, was treated by medics but refused to be taken to the hospital.
Two houses and at least two parked vehicles were also struck by gunfire, Cruz said.
Police are investigating after reports of two vehicles exchanging gunfire on Black St. between Fern St. & N. Negley Ave. just before 6 p.m. on March 29.
