Five more Port Authority of Allegheny County employees have tested positive for covid-19, spokesman Jim Ritchie said.

The new cases bring the number of covid-19 cases involving Port Authority employees to 37. Last week, Port Authority recorded three covid-19 cases.

Three of this week’s cases involved bus drivers based in the authority’s Ross garage. The employees last worked Feb. 11, July 26 and July 27, respectively. All are now self-quarantined, according to Ritchie.

The other cases involve a West Mifflin-based bus driver who last worked July 31 and a Port Authority police officer who last worked July 27. They are also quarantining.

The cases have been reported to the Allegheny County Health Department.
