Traffic is backed up Sunday afternoon after a crash on the outbound Parkway East between on the Swissvale side of the Squirrel Hill Tunnel. All outbound lanes were closed because of the crash.

The Parkway East outbound lanes from the Beechwood Boulevard exit to the Edgewood/Swissvale Exit reopened about an hour after a multi-vehicle crash shut it down Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

Allegheny County dispatchers said the wreck happened around 2:30 p.m. Sunday on the Swissvale side of the Squirrel Hill Tunnel.

State police reported it reopened shortly after 3:30 p.m.

It’s unclear if anyone was injured or when the road would reopen.
