The Morning Mix had been nixed so far this week for those who listen to 91.3 WYEP on their car, home or office radios.

The reason why was blowin’ in the wind, literally.

But it was fixed midway through the morning Tuesday, when power was restored to the WYEP transmitter site in Hazelwood.

It was among the thousands of sites without power after the fierce winds Sunday. WYEP’s transmitter lost power about 3 p.m. Sunday, according to Abby Goldstein, the station’s general manager.

“We’ve been off the air ever since,” Goldstein said.

Power returned shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday, Goldstein said.

Barring another blast of windy weather or another power outage, the station is now back to broadcasting as usual, she said.

Before the power came back, Morning Mix host Joey Spehar took to Twitter to explain the static heard on the radio and encouraged listeners to use the station’s website, where the tunes were playing as usual.

“Listening to our online stream was up 10 percent yesterday (Monday),” Goldstein said. “I am concerned about the short term loss of listeners and the effect this has on us long term.”
