Primanti Bros, East End Brewing team up for a Valentine's beer
Primanti Bros. and East End Brewing are pairing for another beer just in time for Valentine’s Day.
The new brew, “Almost in Love,” is to be released Tuesday morning at the Primanti Bros. restaurant in Market Square.
Diners will be able to crack open cans of the chocolate-cherry stout flavored beer. The beer is available by singles or in a four-pack of 16-ounce cans for $18.99. It will be available in 23 Primanti Bros. locations and also at East End Brewing in Larimer, owned by Scott Smith.

The beloved Pittsburgh companies teamed up this summer for a pickle-flavored brew during the Picklesburgh festival. It sold out quickly in many locations.
“The first collaboration was so successful that we wanted to do it again,” said Jim Prezioso, senior marketing manager for Primanti Bros. “ ‘Almost in Love’ explodes in your mouth with flavorful Michigan cherries all brew with chocolatey goodness from cacao and milk sugar for a touch of sweetness. I only have one thing to say about that: XOXO.”
The companies considered using another Primanti Bros. product, like the pickles. In the end, they decided sandwich flavors, like pastrami, french fries and coleslaw, wouldn’t taste all that good in beer form.
They instead chose a dessert-inspired combination. The cherry-chocolate stout has 7% alcohol by volume.
The name comes from the Primanti Bros. tagline of “Almost Famous.”
“It is so much fun to work with Scott,” said Prezioso. “We thought Valentine’s week would be a perfect time to launch this.”
They made limited quantities — 20 barrels — and will have 95 cases distributed to Primanti Bros. locations and some will be available for sale at East End Brewing.
“It’s just a great partnership, because I believe our audiences are complementary,” Smith said. “It’s the perfect union — just in time for Valentine’s, Galentine’s or Palentine’s Day.”
