PWSA truck involved in chemical spill in Millvale
A Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority truck was involved in a chemical spill in Millvale on Tuesday, police said.
The incident occurred around 1:15 p.m. on the 1000 block of Evergreen Road in Millvale, near a BP gas station. Police blocked off a portion of the road, as a Hazmat crew worked to clean the spill.
The PWSA truck turned a corner when a chlorine-based chemical used in a nearby reservoir spilled, according to Millvale Police Chief Tim Komoroski.
“They were on their way to the reservoir and they spilled some kind of chlorine-based product,” Komoroski said.
Evergreen Ave between Hawthorne and Hanson CLOSED due to Hazmat spill.
