Rankin road closure related to Kenmawr Bridge replacement to continue through summer 2021
A portion of Sixth Avenue in Rankin is closed through late summer 2021 as part of a Kenmawr Bridge replacement project.
The road closed Wednesday between Kenmawr Avenue and Duquesne Way.
A public meeting to discuss the $12.46 million project is scheduled for 5-6:30 p.m. March 23 at the Rankin Christian Center, 230 Third Ave.
Staff members from PennDOT, SAI Consulting Engineers and Golden Triangle Construction will be on-hand to provide project information and answer questions and concerns.
PennDOT posted a detour from Kenmawr Avenue at Sixth Avenue as follows:
• Follow Kenmawr Avenue south;
• Turn right onto Fourth Avenue;
• Turn right onto Antisbury Street;
• Turn right onto Fifth Avenue;
• Turn left onto Duquesne Way;
• Follow Duquesne Way to Sixth Avenue.
The detour from Duquesne Way at Sixth Avenue is as follows:
• Take Duquesne Way south;
• Turn left onto Fifth Avenue;
• Turn right onto Kenmawr Avenue.
Officials said motorists can also expect short-term stoppages on Kenmawr Avenue between Woodstock Avenue and Fifth Avenue weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to allow crews to conduct utility relocation, property demolitions, and other preparatory work in advance of the bridge replacement.
