Online registration for a comprehensive disability and mental health summit this spring in Pittsburgh is now open.
The 2020 annual Disability and Mental Health Summit will take place March 3 at the David L. Lawrence Convention center.
“For the last six years, the Disability and Mental Health Summit has made a difference in the lives of thousands of people,” said state Rep. Dan Miller, D-Mt. Lebanon. “This year, we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the passage of the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act, along with more than 40 informative sessions and hundreds of exhibitors for those in attendance.”
With nearly 70% of Pennsylvanians with disabilities not in the workforce, employment will be a major focus of the summit.
“We should be a state where every 16- or 17-year-old had real opportunity to get a job and develop skills,” Miller said. “The first work experience for far too many people with disabilities is delayed for years and too many go underemployed.”
Miller said this year’s event will again offer continuing education credits for social workers, lawyers, rehabilitation counselors and educators.
