Pittsburgh rescue crew recovers body of man who fell into Allegheny River
Divers recovered the body of a man in his mid-20s who either jumped or fell from a boat into the Allegheny River near the docks at Washington’s Landing, officials said.
At 9:54 p.m., emergency dispatchers received a call about a man in the river under the 31st Street Bridge, Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesman Chris Togneri said.
“When the boat was trying to dock, the male either jumped or fell into the Allegheny River under the 31st Street Bridge,” Togneri said.

The city’s River Rescue team has divers in the water searching for him by 10:01 p.m.
Pittsburgh Public Safety tweeted that the man’s body was pulled from the water at 12:01 a.m. Saturday. He was not immediately identified.

“Visibility in the water right now is about 6 inches underwater, so that’s difficult; there’s also a lot of debris in the water,” Togneri said shortly after 11 p.m.
