The Port Authority will keep four bus stops in Pittsburgh that were slated to be removed, officials said Thursday.

The inbound and outbound stops at Penn Avenue at South Millvale Avenue were set to be eliminated as part of a larger culling of Port Authority stops in 2020.

Since the proposal in December, more than 200 residents and community groups have given feedback, according to Port Authority spokesman Adam Brandolph. That feedback has led to some stops being saved.

Additionally, the outbound stop at Josephine and Salisbury streets will be kept but moved to the near side of the intersection, Brandolph said, and the outbound stop at East Carson and 25th streets will stay in place until PennDOT starts its East Carson project in June.

Port Authority officials had proposed eliminating 23 stops south of Downtown Pittsburgh and 22 throughout the city’s East End. The eliminations were based on usage, safety and proximity to other bus stops.

The stops were set to be eliminated March 15. Other changes will still go into effect, including renaming the Blue Line Library the Silver Line Library on the light-rail system and adding weekend bus service between Millvale and Downtown Pittsburgh.

Other changes can be found on the Port Authority website.
