Samples for covid-19 testing are prepared at MHS Labs in Monroeville.

A Ross nursing home is reporting a coronavirus outbreak among more than three dozen residents, according to data last updated on the facility’s website Friday.

The ManorCare Health Services North Hills location, one of 42 ManorCare facilities in Pennsylvania, is licensed for 200 beds.

The facility previously reported fewer than five cases of the coronavirus among residents, eight among staff and zero deaths, according to Pennsylvania Department of Health data last updated July 28.

Universal testing of all residents and staff yielded the 39 new cases, according to a statement from the facility reported by Trib news partner WPXI.

“Our facility completed repeat universal testing on July 29,” the statement said. “Unfortunately we have received positive covid-19 test results for our residents. 104 residents’ results were negative and 39 were positive. We are still awaiting results of our staff.”

Additional universal testing will be performed again this week, the statement said.

ManorCare officials did not respond to a request for comment Sunday.

Test results for an additional three residents are still pending, according to data posted to the facility’s website.

ManorCare North Hills has designated isolation areas for sick residents, according to coronavirus protocols outlined on the facility’s website.

Admissions are restricted and telehealth technology is being used for interactions with medical practitioners, according to those protocols.

The ManorCare Peters Township location in Washington County is as of Friday reporting 22 patients who have tested positive and five still waiting for results, according to data posted to the facility’s website.

Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic in March, the ManorCare Pittsburgh location in the city’s Shadyside neighborhood on Negley Avenue has reported 50 coronavirus cases, while the ManorCare Shadyside location on Fifth Avenue has reported 67 cases, according to state data.
