Ross Township restaurant closing temporarily after worker tests positive for covid-19
The Wheelfish restaurant on Sangree Road in Ross Township is closing temporarily after an employee tested positive for covid-19.
The employee, who has not worked at the restaurant since last week, was tested “to protect vulnerable members of their household and family” after traveling outside the area, company officials wrote in a notice posted on social media.
The employee, who had no direct contact with customers while working, is “doing well and feeling fine,” officials wrote. The employee was not identified.
After learning about the employee’s exposure to coronavirus, the company notified the Allegheny County Health Department, which indicated that no patrons were at risk.
None of the restaurant’s other employees are experiencing covid-19 symptoms, but they are being tested as a precaution.
“We’ve made every effort to be cautious and pro-active while following guidelines and limiting our service, offering to curbside take-out and outdoor dining,” company officials wrote in the notice.
“We are voluntarily pausing service to determine the most responsible path forward and taking measures to ensure our environment is safe. Our number one concern continues to be the health and safety of our team and customers.”
