Pittsburgh Shakespeare in the Parks is taking registrations for the next Bring Your Own Bard, an informal session in which professional actors and non-actors can perform their favorite Shakespeare pieces.
BYOB is set for May 26 on Zoom, with the room opening at 7 p.m. and the program beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Jennifer Tober, PSIP founder and artistic director, will host, and participants will have the opportunity to meet Jeff Chips, who will direct PSIP’s fall production of “Cymbeline.”
BYOB participants of all ages can read excerpts from “Cymbeline” or any other favorite Shakespeare piece. Listeners also are welcome.
A $10 online donation is suggested, with all proceeds going to the fall production.
PSIP’s 16th-season will include 10 free performances at Frick Park, Highland Park, Schenley Plaza and the North Park Boathouse.
About “Cymbeline,” PSIP says, “Shakespeare’s fairy tale conjures the mystical journey of a Celtic princess — Imogen — against all odds. Searching for her true love, Imogen navigates a hazardous yet magical world.”
PSIP calls it a “fascinating romance, first performed in 1611 and seldom seen in Pittsburgh.”
