A new Showtime series starring Jeff Daniels is holding a casting call in Pittsburgh.

The open call for paid background actors will be held Sunday, March 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

The show, called “Rust,” is looking for extras to portray “small town locals, business and blue collar types, bar patrons, college football players, cops, wedding guests and other various roles,” according to a press release.

“Rust” is described as a compelling family drama that will explore “the tattered American dream through the eyes of complicated and compromised chief of police Del Harris (Daniels) in a rust belt town in Southwest Pennsylvania,” according to an article in the online news site “Deadline.”

Daniels also is the show’s executive producer.

Daniels is a five-time Emmy nominee who won a Best Lead Actor award for “The Newsroom” and Best Supporting Actor for “Godless.” He recently starred as Atticus Finch in the Broadway production of “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
