A Giant Eagle employee at the Parkway Center Mall store near Greentree has tested positive for covid-19, company officials confirmed Sunday.

The store on May 3 converted to a curbside pick-up distribution center and no longer has traditional customer store traffic, company spokesman Dick Roberts said.

“The safety of our team members and guests remains our top priority,” he said.

“Our focus is on ensuring that the team member is cared for, and that others who may have come into close contact with the individual are appropriately notified.”

The employee was last in the store on May 13.

Roberts said staff will continue rigorous sanitizing at the site.

Giant Eagle officials previously confirmed positive cases of covid-19 in at least nine stores, including Kennedy Township, McCandless, New Kensington, Wexford and Broadview Heights, Ohio, among others.

Customers who use the curbside pick-up center at Parkway Center Mall process orders and payments online.

The in-store and walk-up pharmacies remain open.
