Stack’d Burgers has raised its game.

The local burger chain recently opened a rooftop dining area at its Oakland location so guests can enjoy a custom-made burger and craft beer outside with a view.

“It’s been a long time coming,” Samantha Barnes, Stack’d marketing manager, told the Tribune-Review on Thursday. “It will be open every day, weather permitting.”

The outdoor space is close to the University of Pittsburgh campus, and the big table umbrellas are visible from the sidewalk and road as people walk or drive through Oakland. There are 10 tables. Guests can enjoy daily drink specials, happy hour deals and the restaurant’s full menu from the roof.

“It was filled the first day,” Barnes said. “Summer is a great time of year for this to open, but we are especially looking forward to fall when the Pitt students come back to school.”

Owners Maurry Mendelovich and Jamie Rodgers met as students at Pitt. They also own CHiKN a few doors down. It opened in January and has a Nashville hot style menu of chicken tenders and breasts, salads, macaroni and cheese and crinkle-cut fries.

The Oakland Stack’d is one of the burger joint’s four locations. The other three — Shadyside, Pine and Hampton — have outdoor seating on patios.

“The rooftop is a wonderful place to sit outside and enjoy the weather and a drink and some food,” Barnes said. “We will take advantage of all the nice days so people can get some fresh air.”
