A Stowe man was sentenced to 18 years in prison followed by 15 years of supervised release for child exploitation offenses.

Hakeem James Hughes, 30, previously pleaded guilty to using minors to produce child pornography, according to United States Attorney David J. Freed. Hughes coerced and persuaded minors to engage in sexual acts with him, often providing them with phones and electronic games in exchange, and video recording the encounters.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Child Exploitation/Human Trafficking Group.
