A night of drinking and smoking ended early Tuesday with gunfire in an apparent robbery gone wrong in Wilkinsburg, according to charges filed against the alleged gunman.
Triq Peek Price, 39, is charged with homicide in the death of David Herbin. Price was not in custody as of late Wednesday afternoon.
Price and Herbin were among five or six people hanging out at a home on Laketon Road, smoking crack cocaine and drinking into the early morning, according to the criminal complaint.
At some point, two of the witnesses left the home to go to an ATM and returned with $60 to buy more drugs, according to the complaint. Everyone except Price was sitting in the living room when they returned, and Price soon walked from the kitchen holding a gun.
Price allegedly demanded Herbin and another victim hand over “everything they had,” and Herbin complied, police said. The second victim handed over a purse. Price then shot Herbin in the head and took off through a back door, according to police.
Four witnesses in the home identified a man they knew only as ‘Wax’ as the shooter, police said. A phone number one witness had for Wax led them to Price.
Herbin, 49, was taken to a hospital at about 5 a.m. He was pronounced dead less than an hour later.
Price is described as black, 6 feet tall, and weighing about 160 pounds. He has a full beard.
In addition to homicide, Price also is charged with robbery and drug and firearms offenses.
Anyone who sees Price should call 911 immediately, police said. Anyone with information concerning his whereabouts is asked to call the county police tipline at 833-255-8477.
