A Swissvale man is accused of robbing an East Liberty bank and then leading police on a foot chase Friday along Frick Park’s Tranquil Trail.

Police said Lamar Sewell, 38, entered a Key Bank branch at about 9:15 a.m., pointed a handgun, demanded money and then fled.

He drove his car to the end of Ben Hur Street and had to jump out when he couldn’t go any farther. Ben Hur comes to a dead end near Hawthorne Trail in Frick Park.

A foot chase ended with Sewell allegedly fighting police near Tranquil Trail.

It’s unknown if Sewell or any officers were injured.

Police charged Sewell with robbery and fleeing or attempting to flee police, both felonies, and resisting arrest and receiving stolen property. Court records show Sewell was released from custody after posting $50,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 10.
