Threat to shoot up high school closes Plum Borough School District
All Plum Borough School District schools were closed Monday because of a threat against the high school, the district announced on its website.
Police chief Lanny Conley said it was a “generalized threat to shoot up the school.”
“We couldn’t say with 100% certainty that the threat was eliminated or if there was a legitimate threat at all … so (closing the school) was the precaution we came to with the school district,” Conley said.
Conley said there are possible leads as to who made the threat but police have not yet identified anyone.
In the meantime, he said, police are in “constant communication” with school officials.
The district received the threat through Safe2Say Something, an online system for reporting anonymous tips run by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. Officials reported the “alleged threat of violence” to the Plum Police Department on Sunday morning, the department said in a statement.
Detectives did not have any new information to release to the public since investigating the threat Sunday and putting out a news release Monday morning.
A bomb threat last closed Plum Borough School District in March 2018.
In spring 2017, the district had six threats in two months, resulting in charges against several students.
