A tree fell on a car as it drove outbound in the 2300 block of Bigelow Boulevard on Wednesday evening.

A woman was taken to a local hospital in stable condition after a tree fell on her Ford Expedition on Wednesday evening as she drove along Bigelow Boulevard in Pittsburgh.

A police spokeswoman said the woman, who was not identified, suffered facial cuts.

The mishap occurred in the inbound lanes in the 2300 block of Bigelow near Frank Curto Park.

A tweet from Allegheny County’s account said that the boulevard was shut down for a time in both directions due to the tree completely blocking the roadway.

An Allegheny County 911 dispatcher said the accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. and the boulevard reopened about 20 minutes later. No other injuries were reported.
