A Homewood man accused of killing a Duquesne man in 2018 at a Duquesne bar was found guilty of third-degree murder and two firearms violations Monday by an Allegheny County judge.
Carl Jones, 28, was accused of shooting Donnell Demery, 54, several times after the pair exchanged words at the 1313 Lounge.
Demery was sitting at the bar with a person who is a witness in the case when Jones and a woman walked in, according to a criminal complaint.
Jones and Demery spoke to each other briefly, according to the complaint. Jones then left the bar and returned with a silver handgun, shooting Demery five or six times, the witness told police.
Surveillance camera footage at the bar confirmed the witness’ account, according to the complaint.
Jones was arrested Aug. 28, 2018, on homicide charges and firearms violations.
Allegheny County Judge Anthony Mariani found Jones guilty of third-degree murder in a nonjury trial that started Monday morning. Mariani issued his verdict in the afternoon.
Jones was represented by Marco Attisano in the case.
Attisano didn’t immediately return messages seeking comment.
