A truck lost its load along the Parkway West midday Thursday, snarling traffic for hours while crews worked to clear metal debris from the interstate, officials said.

By 5 p.m., about five hours after the incident, Interstate 376 reopened to traffic after closing to a single lane in both directions near the Crafton/Green Tree exits, PennDOT spokeswoman Yasmeen Manyisha said.

Crews initially reduced I-376 to one lane in both directions and closed the on-ramp from Route 22/30 to outbound I-376. They lifted the inbound I-376 restriction about 2:30 p.m. The Route 22/30 on-ramp reopened by 5 p.m.

The report of the truck crash came in about 12:15 p.m., an Allegheny County 911 shift commander said.

No other vehicles were believed to have been damaged and no injuries were reported.

Officials urged drivers to use caution while traveling through the area.

Further information on the truck and its contents or what caused the incident were not immediately available.

The crash is under investigation.
