Turtle Creek man dead in Homewood shooting

A 32 year-old Turtle Creek man died Saturday evening in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, following a shooting in the city’s Homewood neighborhood.

Pittsburgh Police who responded to a report of a shooting at about 9:45p.m., arrived at at the intersection of Mohler Street and Ferris Court and found a man later idenitified as Justin Gomez with a gunshot wound and losing consciousness. Officers performed CPR until EMS arrived.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office said Gomez, who was shot by an unidentified assailant or assailants, was pronounced dead in the emergency room at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital shortly before 10:30 p.m.

Police said they later learned that a second man arrived at a local hospital by private means in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. He told police had been shot on Mohler Streeet.

His identitiy was not released.

Police said detectives are investigating the shootings.
