Turtle Creek suspect arrested in double shooting that left Duquesne man dead
A Turtle Creek man has been arrested and charged with homicide in connection to last week’s shooting in Pittsburgh’s North Side that left one man dead and a woman wounded, police said Friday.
Maurice Demond King, 26, was taken into custody the day after Christmas at his mother’s home in Pitcairn, Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesman Chris Togneri said.
The Dec. 18 shooting happened about 3 p.m. near the intersection of Norwood and Kennedy avenues in the Perry South section of Pittsburgh’s North Side.
Officers found two gunshot victims near a vehicle. Cedric L. Mack, 41, of Duquesne was found inside the vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head. He was dead at the scene.
A female was shot in the arm. Medics took her to a nearby hospital.
Investigators initially searched the area for suspects to no avail, Togneri said.
Pitcairn Police Chief Scott Farally and Officer Craig Gibson assisted Pittsburgh’s bureau with the investigation, Togneri said.
King faces charges of homicide, aggravated assault, carrying a firearm without a license, reckless endangerment and tampering with evidence.
Officials asked anyone with information about the incident to call detectives at (412) 323-7161.
