2 houses in Pittsburgh's Allentown neighborhood evacuated because of mudslide

A mudslide caused two houses along the 900 block of McCain Street to be evacuated by order of Pittsburgh officials about 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019.

A mudslide down a steep hill caused two houses to be evacuated Wednesday as a precaution along Arlington Avenue in Pittsburgh just after 5 p.m.

The Trib’s news partner, WPXI-TV, said the mud and water came from the 900 block of McCain Street in Allentown. An engineer was expected to check the site during daylight hours Thursday.

Traffic was restricted to a single lane for several hours, an Allegheny County 911 supervisor said. No damage was done to utilities, he said.

At 10 p.m., Arlington Avenue was open to traffic without restriction.

That would change if more mud enters Arlington Avenue.
