Two people are recovering at local trauma centers after being shot in Munhall.

The Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit was called to assist borough police with the shooting investigation around 8:50 p.m. Tuesday along the 400 block of East 12th Avenue.

Munhall Police Chief Pat Campbell said a man from the Homestead area in his 20s was struck in the lower torso and a woman, believed to be from Rankin and in her early 30s, was struck in the chest and shoulder area. Both were alert and conscious when officers arrived.

They were on a porch with other people playing cards when someone walked up to the home and opened fire, Campbell said. A description of the shooter was not available.

The victims’ conditions and further information about the incident were not released.

Anyone with information about the shooting can call 911 or the Allegheny County Police Tipline 833-255-8477. Callers can remain anonymous.
