The offices of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on the North Shore on March 20, 2017.

More than 30 Teamsters were laid off from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Sunday, officials from the Teamsters Local Union No. 211 said Tuesday in a news release.

Union officials said the layoffs included three pressmen who were offered six weeks of severance pay.

The union responded by filing a complaint in federal court to, among other things, ensure the workers receive six months of wages as stipulated in their contract.

A message with parent company Block Communications Inc. was not immediately returned.

The union said an undisclosed number of Teamsters who remain at the company were placed on part-time status, a move that will prompt them to lose health care benefits.

The Teamsters and other unions have been trying to negotiate a contract for nearly three years, according to the news release.
