University of Pittsburgh police investigating robbery at Jimmy John's just off campus

University of Pittsburgh police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man believed to have robbed the Jimmy John’s just off campus.

City and university officers responded to the sandwich shop at 3444 Forbes Ave. around 6:20 p.m. Friday for a report of a robbery. The university posted a crime alert about the incident.

Authorities said the victim told police the suspect leaned over, said he had a gun and to give him money from the cash register. The robber ran off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

He is described as a black man in his 50s standing 5 feet 7 inches tall with a slender build and a salt-and-pepper colored beard, wearing a thick flannel jacket, dark pants and a beanie cap.
