The covid-19 crisis and the stay-at-home order that goes with it have many people feeling like they’re living in a movie.

Now, some have used the coronavirus pandemic as inspiration to make their own covid-19 themed short films, thanks to encouragement from Steeltown Entertainment.

Steeltown, which supports film and digital media arts in Pittsburgh, is sponsoring a contest called “Lights, Camera, Quarantine: Film in the Time of Covid-19.” Filmmakers were invited to make their own short films about life during the pandemic, an existence with conditions unlike any most Americans have ever experienced.

The short film contest has two levels: Youth and Adult. Cash prizes of $100 for the winner of the youth category and $200 for the adult category will be awarded based on YouTube likes.

Voting continues until Friday at 4 p.m.

To watch the short films and vote, go to the YouTube page here. Click on the thumbs-up “like” on each film to vote.
