Wanted fugitive, girlfriend arrested in West Mifflin
Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Pittsburgh woman wanted on three different warrants Thursday in West Mifflin, and suspected drugs in the house will lead to new charges against the fugitive and her girlfriend, authorities said.
Shavon Hopkins, 28, of Oakland, was wanted by Bethel Park police on drug and other charges because they said she sold a brick of heroin to a man at a South Park gas station in November, according to Chief Deputy Kevin Kraus.
Those charges amounted to a probation violation, Kraus said. Hopkins had been on probation for a 2016 firearm violation. A warrant for the probation violation was issued Dec. 8.
Hopkins was charged again in January, this time in West Mifflin, after police said she damaged her ex-girlfriend’s cellphone and car, Kraus said. She was charged with loitering and prowling, criminal mischief and defiant trespassing.
Deputies converged on a home on West Mifflin’s Utah Avenue at about 8 a.m. Thursday and announced themselves, but received no response, Kraus said. Deputies found an open window and got Hopkins’ current girlfriend, Aireona Quinn, to open the front door.
With the door open, deputies spotted Hopkins atop a set of stairs leading to the home’s second floor, Kraus said. She was arrested on the outstanding warrants, and Quinn, 26, was charged with hindering apprehension.
Deputies noted drugs in plain view, Kraus said, and secured a search warrant for the home. They found seven bundles of suspected heroin and two baggies of suspected marijuana and crack. Both will face drug charges, Kraus said.
