Don’t expect a bump in tourism from this late-night skit featuring Western Pennsylvania Saturday night.

Saturday Night Live’s satirical news segment Weekend Update featured a Spring Break travel segment that took a comical wrong turn.

Host Michael Che welcomed guest commentator Carrie Krum, played by Aidy Bryant, to present some getaway suggestions from the perspective of a seventh grader.

Krum immediately digressed into family tales from a trip to Boise, Idaho. Che tried to bring her back on course by asking for some recommended beach vacation spots.

“Say, ‘Aloha’ to the beaches of Western Pennsylvania,” replied Krum. She specifically recommended the beaches of Erie, and described the experience as “ankle deep in this ice cold water that stinks.”

Krum shares just one discovery from her Erie beach experience: “Flies can be on the beach.”

We can assume Krum is referencing Presque Isle State Park but she doesn’t get specific.

She continued but just couldn’t keep the family tidbits out of her report.

Krum added that they stopped in Pittsburgh and her fondest memory is when her brother had to wear a yarmulke to dinner there.

“It looked like half of a bra,” she chuckled.
