Prince Charles will not be there.

But all things Welsh will be celebrated during a Whisky Dinner on May 17 at the University Club that’s being hosted by the St. David’s Society of Pittsburgh.

The society celebrates and promotes awareness of Welsh cultural heritage in southwestern Pennsylvania and this is its first whisky dinner.

Welsh whisky from Penderyn Distillery, located in the southern valleys of Wales, will be served, including the Madiera-finish, Sherrywood-finish, and Dragon series: Legend, Myth, and Celt, will be paired with a traditional Welsh supper.

The menu includes potato leek soup, Welsh rarebit (word to the wise — it’s more like cheesy toast and has nothing to do with rabbit) and herb roasted lamb.

Although the Prince of Wales won’t be attending, the Penderyn brand ambassador will be on hand to meet and greet with those who come to the dinner.

The reception starts at 7 p.m. at the University Club, 123 University Place, in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood. Tickets, which include the supper and whisky tasting are $110. RSVPs are due by May 13.
