A woman was killed early Friday in a fire at a home in Pittsburgh’s Greenfield neighborhood, public safety officials said.

The victim was on the second floor of the home on Bigelow Street, where the fire broke out about 3:20 a.m.

Fire crews and EMS responded to the duplex in the 600 block, where flames were seen in the upper level of the home.

Two other people in the house were able to escape on their own. A female was taken to Mercy Hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation. A man was taken to a local hospital and was in serious condition.

Two firefighters battling the four-alarm blaze were checked by medics for dizziness, public safety spokesman Maurice Matthews said.

The fire was extinguished after about an hour and a half.
