Pittsburgh’s Department of Permits, Licenses and Inspections has a new director, a veteran employee who has been running the department for months.
City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved David Green of Lawrenceville to replace Sarah Kinter, who stepped down in July.
Mayor Ed Gainey previously praised Green as the “most qualified candidate.”
The department is responsible for reviewing and inspecting building permits and maintaining city buildings.
Green has worked with the city for 11 years in various roles, including as a construction plans examiner, permitting supervisor and assistant director. He has served as the building code official since 2019.
He overhauled, standardized and accelerated the way the department conducts reviews and helped launch online permitting.
Green is a registered architect with a master’s degree in public policy from Carnegie Mellon University.
