Pittsburgh city solicitor leaving city government post
Pittsburgh City Solicitor and Chief Legal Officer Yvonne Hilton will be leaving her role with the city, Mayor Bill Peduto announced Monday.
Hilton began working with the city in August 1997. In the 24 years since, she has served as an assistant city solicitor, associate city solicitor and deputy city solicitor. Peduto appointed her to the city’s top legal post in October 2018.
“Yvonne has been an incredible asset and a dedicated public servant for the city of Pittsburgh,” Peduto said. “She is diligent, thorough, fair and equitable in counsel and enforcement of the law. My administration has been lucky to have had a solicitor of her caliber and we are grateful for the example she has set for the city’s law department and municipal attorneys everywhere.”
Her final day with the city will be Friday.
She will be moving to a new position as associate counsel with the Port Authority of Allegheny County.
Hilton is the latest in a slew of city employees moving to new positions as Peduto prepares to leave office. City spokeswoman Molly Onufer announced her departure last week and the city’s finance director moved to a new job outside of city government weeks before that.
