Pittsburgh residents with leaves, grass, brush and branches can leave their yard waste at the curb or take it to a drop-off center next weekend.

The city will hold its biannual yard waste collection on Nov. 12.

Residents should place the yard waste they want to have collected by the city at their usual trash spot by 6 a.m. Saturday, but not before Friday evening, officials said.

Leaves, grass and brush must be in brown paper bags that weigh no more than 35 pounds.

Branches should be bundled with fiber twine or natural rope. The city will collect branches that are no more than 4 inches wide and five feet long.

City crews will not collect yard debris that contains plastic bags, glass, rocks, blocks, bricks, dirt or gravel. City officials said crews will leave any yard waste that doesn’t meet the city’s guidelines on the curb.

The city also operates three drop-off centers year-round to collect yard waste:

  • East End: 6814 Hamilton Ave., 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
  • Hazelwood: 40 Melanchton St., 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • West End: 1330 Hassler St., 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
