Quick action by city police and a detective on Thursday led to the quick apprehension of a suspected bank robber in Bloomfield, police said.

Aaron Roth, 36, is charged with robbery and theft of property for allegedly robbing the First National Bank along the 4700 block of Liberty Avenue.

Public Safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz said officers responded to the scene shortly after 11:30 a.m.

Employees told police that a man wearing a suit jacket passed a note to a teller demanding cash and threatened that he had a gun. The suspect then fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Cruz said officers and a computer crimes detective apprehended Roth a short distance away wearing the same clothes as during the robbery.

He also still had the stolen money, police said. Roth was taken to police headquarters for questioning and later transported to the Allegheny County Jail. No injuries were reported.
