Police filed charges Tuesday in the brutal stabbing of a man aboard a Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus.

Devante Clark, 30, of Pittsburgh is facing counts of aggravated assault, attempted homicide, terroristic threats and reckless endangerment. He remains at large.

According to a criminal complaint, the victim, who sustained multiple stab wounds and was transported to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in critical condition, had “beef” with Clark from years ago that he thought had passed.

Police say surveillance footage shows Clark and another man arriving at East Liberty Station along the East Busway around 12:30 p.m. Saturday and boarding an outbound bus about 20 minutes later. Clark walks to the back and immediately gets into what appears to be an argument with the victim, who was already on the P68-Braddock Hills Flyer.

The complaint states that as the situation escalated, Clark stripped off his jacket, windbreaker and shirt before pulling out a switchblade. At some point during the dispute, the bus pulled over at Wilkinsburg Station and passengers began to exit.

Clark went on to stab, punch, knee and stomp the victim for about a minute, police said. He then walked out of the bus with blood on his chest and shoes and headed toward a nearby park-and-ride lot along with the other man, according to the complaint.

While recovering at UPMC Presbyterian, the victim identified Clark to police based on a Facebook profile. Police said they matched the images on that account to the surveillance video as well as Clark’s driver’s license and a past mugshot.

No charges have been filed against the man accompanying Clark.
