A Pittsburgh man has been sentenced to nearly six years in federal prison after being convicted of federal drug crimes, authorities announced Wednesday.
Lamont Goodwine, Jr., 34, was found guilty of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to deliver at least 100 grams of heroin.
U.S. District Judge William S. Stickman IV imposed the sentence of 70 months.
Authorities said Goodwine possessed and conspired to distribute heroin from June 2019 through December 2019.
The FBI began investigating a heroin trafficking organization operating throughout the greater Pittsburgh area that same year including a wiretap investigation July through August 2019.
Authorities said Goodwine was a member of that ring, and communications between him and a co-defendant about acquiring heroin were intercepted.
Authorities said Goodwine was also observed meeting with his co-defendant to conduct heroin transactions.
After serving his time in prison. Goodwine is to be placed on supervised release for four years.
U.S. Attorney Cindy Chung commended the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, the Allegheny County Police Department, the Stowe Township Police Department, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, the Office of the Attorney General, the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, the North Versailles Police Department, the Allegheny County Port Authority Police Department, the Munhall Police Department, and the Pennsylvania State Police for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Goodwine.
