Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey’s transition team is seeking the public’s input on key issues facing the new administration.

In the first of several planned virtual community forums, Gainey will seek input on equitable development in a forum starting at 6 p.m. Feb. 21. Subsequent forums will include ones focusing on education and workforce development at 6 p.m. Feb. 23, community health and safety at 6 p.m. Feb. 28, and infrastructure and environment at 6 p.m. March 2.

Any Pittsburgh resident interested in participating can register through an online portal, which includes a survey that will be updated every two weeks and an “idea wall” where residents can submit ideas to the transition team through March 15. The portal is designed to be accessible for residents who speak different languages.

Residents who don’t have online access can participate in the events by calling 412-267-7592 and leaving a voice message to share their ideas. Those messages will be transcribed and shared with the transition committees.

Community organizations are invited to share their ideas through any of the transition team’s initiatives, which are available on Gainey’s transition team site.

“Team members are ready to listen and create inclusive and equitable solutions and recommendations to this new administration,” said Angel Gober, who is the transition team chair.

Gainey said he hopes the input will help “identify solutions that will improve the quality of life for all Pittsburghers.”
