Pittsburgh Parking Authority resumes ticketing in residential permit-only zones
The Pittsburgh Parking Authority will begin enforcing permit-only parking in residential areas on Tuesday, city officials said.
The city suspended a slew of parking regulations in mid-March as the covid-19 pandemic took hold locally, and summer has seen some enforcement begin again.
There are more than a dozen residential areas across the city that require permits for on-street parking. The parking authority will resume ticketing cars without permits. The areas have a one- or two-hour grace period. The fine for parking beyond the grace period without a residential permit or visitor pass is $45.
With permit enforcement beginning again, all parking violations are now being enforced across the city, except for street cleaning restrictions. Street sweeping is set to resume in the spring, according to the city.
Free street parking in Downtown ended in mid-May, and enforcement of metered parking returned in June.
