Medical examiner IDs 1-year-old boy shot and killed inside Rhine Place home
A 1-year-old baby has died after being shot in Pittsburgh.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office identified the boy as Zykier Young.
City police responded to 911 calls and a Shotspotter alert for multiple shots fired shortly after 6 p.m. Monday along the 100 block of Rhine Place in the Spring Hill neighborhood.
Pittsburgh Public Safety Spokeswoman Cara Cruz said officers at the scene were directed to a residence where they found Young with a gunshot wound to the head.
Hewas taken to a hospital in critical condition and later succumbed his injuries.
The 1-year-old boy in this incident has been pronounced deceased in the hospital.

Cruz said preliminary reports indicate the shots came from outside, traveled through a window and two walls before hitting the baby.
Mayor Bill Peduto took to Twitter early Tuesday morning, promising the shooter would be found.
“Senseless gun violence must end,” he said. “Another innocent life has been stolen. We will work endlessly to find the actor and hold them accountable for this horrific crime.”
