A Pittsburgh man is facing animal cruelty charges after police say they saw him abuse his dog.

Police responded to reports Sunday evening of a dog yelping and crying in pain with a swollen, injured eye in the 1600 block of Saint Patrick Street in the city’s Arlington neighborhood.

Police seized the dog from Paris Lundy, 35, and arrested him on charges of aggravated cruelty to animals and cruelty to animals.

Animal Control took custody of the dog and transported it to receive emergency veterinarian care.

Lundy faces a preliminary hearing on Sept. 29.
