Pittsburgh police have charged a woman with aggravated assault after responding to a stabbing in Arlington Heights Friday morning.

Mikalia Robinson, 29, of Arlington Heights was arraigned Friday night and released from the Allegheny County Jail after posting a $5,000 bond, according to court records.

According to police, officers responded to the reported stabbing in the 3000 block of Arlington Avenue around 5:15 a.m.

Officers found the victim, a man, sitting on a couch in an apartment with a large amount of blood on the floor around him, police said in court filings. He was alert and suffering from stab wounds to his shoulder and wrist.

In court filings, police said the man told officers he was drinking in his apartment with another man when they heard a loud banging on the door. The man told police he answered the door and they argued before Robinson stabbed him with a butcher knife and fled on foot.

The man was taken to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in stable condition, police said.

Police said Robinson was found nearby at Josephine and Salisbury streets, where officers took her into custody without incident.

Police said Robinson told officers she stabbed the man because he had hit her, according to court filings. She was not carrying the knife and police could not find it.

Robinson is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on March 12.
