Pittsburgh police are investigating the hit-and-run of a pedestrian in the city’s Oakland neighborhood.

Public Safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz said a man told police that he had been a victim of a hit-and-run incident while walking near the intersection of Craft and Forbes avenues shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday.

He said he had stepped off a Port Authority bus at Fifth Avenue and proceeded to walk down the Craft Avenue sidewalk, and was later struck while crossing the street at Forbes Avenue. He told police he was hit by a maroon sedan driven by a middle-aged woman.

Cruz said the man told police the impact sent him onto the hood of the car and he made eye contact with the driver before hitting the pavement.

The driver did not stop to render aid, Cruz said. It is believed the driver continued up Craft Avenue toward Fifth Avenue or straight on Forbes into Oakland.

The make and model of the vehicle is not known.

There was no mention in Cruz’s statement about the victim needing hospitalization.

Anyone with information about the incident can contact city police at 412-422-6520 or 412-422-6578.
