A 3-year-old girl was reported in stable condition at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh after being hit by a police officer’s motorcycle during the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Downtown Pittsburgh on Saturday afternoon, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety report.

The girl suffered bruises, but was “alert and oriented” when an ambulance crew took her to the hospital to be evaluated for any other injuries, police said.

The girl was hit shortly before 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of the Boulevard of the Allies and Stanwix Street, police said. Witnesses reported that the child jumped out of her stroller and into the motorcycle’s path. The parade was over at the time of the accident.

The Boulevard of the Allies was closed between Market and Stanwix street while the department’s collision investigation unit was at the scene, police said.
