A Pittsburgh police officer deployed a Taser on a man after a domestic incident early Monday in the city’s North Side.
Police said they were dispatched around 7:45 a.m. to the 2100 block of Rhine Street in Pittsburgh’s Spring Hill-City View neighborhood.
A man, who police have not named, refused to open the door to a house when officers arrived, police said. The suspect had an existing warrant against him.
Police said the man then jumped out the window of the home and ran away.
“He was ultimately Tased and taken into custody more than 45 minutes later,” near the intersection of Royal and Gershon streets, a spokeswoman said in an online post.
St. Boniface Catholic Church, which stands near the intersection, is less than a mile away from Rhine Street.
Paramedics took the man to an area hospital to be cleared medically, police said. He later will be taken to the Allegheny County Jail. Charges are expected.
“The charges will be active when he is released from the hospital,” spokeswoman Cara Cruz told TribLive.
Cruz deferred questions to the police bureau’s online statement about the incident.
A woman at the scene of the domestic incident declined medical treatment.
